As a Technician, you will diagnose and repair automotive systems. Major activities include: Assisting (not training) technician mechanics in performing technical activities. Diagnoses and repairs to specifications – brake and hydraulic, exhaust, primary and/or advanced fuel ignition and electrical, suspension and alignment, air conditioning and computer systems. Adequately explains technical diagnoses and needed repairs to non-mechanical individuals which may include employees and customers on an as-required basis. Continuously learns new technical information and techniques in formal training sessions in order to stay abreast with rapidly changing automotive technology. Keeps store management aware of mechanical repair problems as they occur. Maintains an organized and neat bay.

Protect surfaces that are not to be painted or blasted with appropriate types of masking tapes and covers. Select, mix and apply various paints and preservatives. Operate various powered forklifts up to 30,000 pound capacity in open and confined spaces.Coats surfaces of Equipment with paint, lacquer, epoxy, resin or other material using brushes, rollers, spray guns and other devices. Remove old paint from Equipment, using Plastic Media blast, Aluminum Oxide Media and/or liquid paint remover and scraper. Smoothes surface with sandpaper and steel wool. Roughens aluminum surfaces with acid solution and steel wool if necessary to ensure paint adheres to surface. Masks and covers portions of surfaces not to be painted. Paint insignia, letters or numerals on equipment surface using stencils. Essential Responsibilities include:1. Coat surfaces of contract units with primer, paint, lacquer, epoxy, resin or other materials using brushes, rollers, spray fans and other devices.2. Remove old paints using a liquid paint remover, scraper or plastic/sand media blasting techniques.3. Smoothes surface with sandpaper and steel wool.4. Roughens aluminum surfaces with acid solution and steel wool to ensure that paint adheres to surface and provides corrosion control methods to customer specifications.5. Masks and cover portions of surfaces not to be painted.6. Paints insignia, letters or numerals on vehicle surface using stencils.7. Uses gloss and semi-gloss, enamels and lacquers.8. Perform routine and non-routine troubleshooting/problem identification and resolution.11. Aside from the day-to-day cleanup, the first workday of every month will be designated for all staff to conduct thorough cleanup efforts for all areas, to include latrines, work bays, paint booths, blast booths, wash rack, and the exterior of all buildings12. Perform other duties as assignedWork assignments involve standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, reaching, climbing, crawling, and crouching in strained and awkward positions for prolonged periods of time.
